Social network THE AMBASSADOR CLUB organises meetings and exchanges between citizens of the world. They cover various topics, mainly in the fields of science and education, economy, religion and society. The Ambassadors care for humanitarian values such as helpfulness, tolerance and human dignity, they create a valuable network of friends, both private and professional.

The Ambassadors' Club of Israel (ACI) is an independent, non-profit organization, which aims to provide Heads of Foreign Diplomatic missions in Israel with a forum where they can meet in an informal atmosphere with Honorary Consuls,representing more than 100 countries, as well as with leading Israeli figures from various sectors of society: such as business, technology, academia, the arts, etc.

ACI is the brainchild of Ambassador Yitzhak Eldan, who prior to his retirement from Israel's Ministry for Foreign Affairs, after a 41-year career as a diplomat, served for seven years as the Ministry's Chief of Protocol. The initial concept of the ACI was the product of a "meeting of the minds" of several Ambassadors and Honorary Consuls who identified the need for the diplomatic community to be better acquainted with Israel's complexities, and who sought a less official framework in which to network with Israelis.

Obviously, as the Club develops, the input of all its members will be welcome, and consideration will be given to their respective needs and requests.

ACI will not only bring diplomats and Israelis together in an environment conducive to their diverse interests, but will also provide a platform for members to present themselves and their countries from whatever standpoint they choose. This will also help Israelis to gain a better understanding of the many countries represented in Israel.

The Club is a natural continuation of the successful academic course initiated at the Interdisciplinary Center (IDC) in Herzliya by Ambassador Eldan together with Ambassador Henri Etoundi Essomba, the Dean of the Diplomatic Corps.

ACI activities will include: Breakfast and luncheon meetings around defined topics; Tours throughout the country to see a variety of projects at close quarters; Receptions with guests speakers from Israel and abroad, particularly visiting dignitaries who will be introduced by their ambassadors; Gala dinners with partners; Invitations to public events, international conventions and exhibitions that are held in Israel A quarterly magazine; A constantly updated website that will publish valuable information about its members and their countries as well as about Israel. ACI welcomes new and creative ideas from all of its members, and urges them not to hesitate about suggesting and contributing to the program.

Η εξαφάνιση, σχεδόν, των εβραϊκών κοινοτήτων του ελλαδικού χώρου, κυρίως κατά το Β΄ Παγκόσμιο Πόλεμο, πέρασε στα «ψιλά» της Ιστορίας που διδάσκεται στο σχολείο, ενώ για δεκαετίες σπάνια μνημονευόταν στο δημόσιο λόγο, αντίθετα με όσα συμβαίνουν σε άλλες χώρες της Δυτικής Ευρώπης. Τα ερωτήματα που τίθενται είναι σημαντικά: μήπως θεωρήθηκε από την εγχώρια κρατική, πολιτική αλλά και επιστημονική ελίτ ως γεγονός δευτερεύον μπροστά στους πολέμους αλλά και τις πολιτικές αναταράξεις του ελληνικού εικοστού αιώνα; Υπάρχουν προκαταλήψεις που εδράζονται σε θρησκευτικούς ή άλλους λόγους; Θεωρούνταν σε όλες τις εποχές «πραγματικοί» Έλληνες οι Εβραίοι στο θρήσκευμα και Έλληνες στην ιθαγένεια πολίτες, ιδίως εκείνοι της Βόρειας Ελλάδας που είχαν πρόσφατα ενσωματωθεί στον ελληνικό εθνικό χώρο; Υπάρχει εντέλει ζήτημα αντισημιτισμού στη χώρα μας;
Ο κύκλος Η αφήγηση της Ιστορίας και η διδασκαλία της ως ιστορικά φαινόμενα φιλοδοξεί να αναδείξει κρίσιμα ζητήματα όπως η διαμόρφωση της συλλογικής συνείδησης μέσα από την αντιμετώπιση του μαθήματος της Ιστορίας στο σχολείο και μέσα από τη δημόσια συζήτηση για θέματα ιστορίας, ή το ζήτημα της διάστασης που συχνά παρατηρείται ανάμεσα στην Ιστορία των ειδικών ιστορικών και την «επίσημη» σχολική εκδοχή της ιστορίας αλλά και τη δημόσια ιστορία γενικότερα. Ακόμα, το πώς πολιτικοί στόχοι και γενικότερες κοινωνικές τάσεις μιας εποχής επηρεάζουν τον τρόπο διδασκαλίας της Ιστορίας.
